Lord’s prayer

I’ve read somewhere that the Lord’s prayer teaches us how Christians ought to pray, beginning with God’s kingdom and glory.
I test-drive this for the last couple of days and goodness was I surprised (why would Jesus be wrong, I hear you say?)!  By giving glory and praises to Him, I was brought down to where I ought to be – humbled by His love for us,  amazed by His patience and left wonder by His grace.
If you are like me, often filling up prayers with requests and ‘buckets list’, this will change your prayer hour, guaranteed!

This morning’s devotion called for me to list what I’m waiting on the Lord for, and pray for Him to strengthen my faith when waiting on Him.
I followed suite and how interesting it was to receive news in the afternoon that something on the list has fall through the cracks!  Ha!  Talk about jinxing myself?
No, it was the Lord’s hands in this, I’m certain of.  He is waiting for me to learn the lesson of sticking to my prayer, as Christ has here on earth.
Lord, strengthen me such that I do not stray, make me wise such that I humbly walk this path; knowing you walk before me, you make my path straight.  Amen.

I blew my top today mid conversation, because the other party fail to acknowledge her mistake and turned around to blame me.
It wasn’t a good feeling after that – I had expressed myself, probably in a rude and disrespectful way.  My justification, “I was right and you are wrong”, still wasn’t enough.  This is why we need God’s wisdom to guide us everyday – who is right or wrong is so immaterial in His grand plan (of having everyone saved!) – isn’t it ludicrous to blow my top?
God, teach us to number our days, so we may be wise in our hearts (for your kingdom’s sake, my addition). Amen.

In the Spirit

It’s so good to be in the spirit!  I was at a ladies’ camp over the weekend.  The teaching wasn’t out of this world – let’s face it, us Christians have so much resource and knowledge about God and being a Christian that we can be a speaker at any Christian convention – it’s the ‘Let’s do it’ that’s lacking in everyone of us.
What I took away from the weekend was the in-filling of the spirit.  How are we to do all that Christ has asked us to do?  We are sinners, how would we know better?  We know if Christ let us in the party, that’s for sure?!
When Christ left His disciples, He promised that the Holy Spirit would come to them.  That’s God with us – HS intercedes for us when we do not know what to pray for, HS interprets for us what God instructs.
Fast forward to today, 4 weeks’ later – after endless loads of laundry, cooked dinner, hours on ends in traffic and many bootcamps later…… I learn something else about the Holy Spirit – He can be starved.  The HS isn’t able to fit in if I am filled with hatred, selfishness, disobedience in my heart; i.e. I am not humble and surrendered to the Lord.  Can’t hear anything when I’m in that mode, let alone be in the spirit.
So, yes, continue to pray, praise, worship the Holy One; remember Him all moments of our days; and I will feel His presence with me.  Days will be clearer and easier and I can be Christ-like the way He has intended me to be.
